Our consultants have spent decades in the field working in all aspects of financial aid and higher education administration. Their responsibilities include but are not limited to overall Title IV compliance review, staff management, counseling, packaging, file review, verification, refund calculations, program fund reconciliation, federal reporting, state reporting, audit assistance and oversight, and much more. In addition, The Group offers expertise in most of the financial aid management software used such as Banner, PowerFAIDS and EDExpress. Paul Baker: Paul works on a part time basis with HEAG as a senior consultant. Paul is the prior Director of Financial Aid at Holyoke Community College from 1973 to 2002 when he retired and started as an independent financial aid consultant. Paul has strong financial aid expertise in reading files to complete verification, resolve conflicting information, make professional judgments, and package awards.Paul has worked as the Interim Director of Financial Aid at several schools, and has assisted with focused program evaluations. Federal compliance has always been one of his strengths. Also, he has had several years of experience with both PowerFAIDS and Banner systems. Paul has a degree in Economics from Bates College and a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Michigan.
James Dergay: Jamie works with HEAG on a part time basis while employed as the Director of Financial Aid at North Bennett Street School, a school focusing on craft education. Jamie brings a unique set of skills to HEAG in that he is understands the one person financial aid office and the demands that this brings. In addition, he is an expert EDExpress/COD user. Prior to coming to HEAG, Jamie worked for seven years as an Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Lesley University where he managed a caseload of about 350 students. In addition, he was responsible for SAP and financial aid appeals. Jamie has a bachelors degree from George Washington University and a masters degree from The University of Maryland.
Jane Domenico: Jane has been working in financial aid since 1987. She started out at the New England Institute of Art, formerly known as the Northeast Broadcasting School, in Boston, MA as Financial Aid Officer. She quickly worked her way up to Director and remained so for 10 years. Jane joined The Group in 1999. She has since consulted for a wide range of institutions of higher education including colleges, universities, proprietary schools, graduate schools, and guarantee agencies. Jane has a degree in Business Administration from Bay State College.
Anne Downey: Anne recently retired after twenty years’ experience working in leadership and supervisory roles in financial aid administration with private colleges. Anne left the Boston Architectural College (BAC) in April 2011 after serving as the Financial Aid Assistant to the Vice President of Administration and Finance as well as the Director of Financial Assistance. She was the prior Director of Financial Aid at Curry College and Mt Ida College. Anne has a strong understanding of electronic processes and financial aid database systems, and is an expert PowerFAIDS user. Anne has a MA in Counseling Psychology from Boston College and a BS in Nursing from Northeastern.
Katie Fleuriel: Katie joined HEAG in the spring of 2011. She was the prior Director of Financial Assistance at the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology located in Boston, MA. In this role, she was responsible for the electronic processing of data for the Direct Loan and the Pell Grant program and has proficiency with the DOE systems such as COD, EDExpress,EDconnect and the school’s CAM system. Prior to working at Benjamin Franklin, Katie was the Staff Associate at Salem State College and former Director at Kaplan Higher Education for RETS Technical Center and Hesser College. Katie has a strong background with staff supervision and training, financial aid processing and system management. Katie has a degree in Psychology from Merrimack College and a Masters degree in Education from Northeastern University.
Sherron Heller: Sherron began working in financial aid in 1987. Before joining The Group in 1999, she was a Director of Financial Aid at the Computer Learning Center, a technical training center with the challenge of continuous enrollment. Sherron has worked with a variety of public, private and proprietary institutions. She has experience working with Banner, Datatel, PowerFAIDS as well as an array of other integrated database systems. Due to her longevity as a consultant, Sherron has the unique ability to come to a campus, assess situations and to begin work immediately. Sherron has a degree in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Dee Ludwick: Dee returned to HEAG after working for ten years as the Director of Financial Aid at Regis College in Weston, MA. As Director, she was responsible for the processing of Federal IV funds, Direct Loans, FISAP and supervised and evaluated financial aid personnel. In addition, she was responsible for the EDEconnect, EDExpress, COD and Datatel software for the office. Prior to Regis, Dee worked for two years as a consultant for HEAG and for five years as the Director of Financial Aid at Kinyon-Cambell Business School. Also, she has been employed as an Assistant Director at both Stonehill College and Wheaton College. Dee attended Wayne State Teachers College in Nebraska.
F. Duane Quinn: F. Duane Quinn was most recently Special Assistant to the President for American Student Assistance (ASA®), a national guarantor of student loans located in Boston, MA. He previously held the position of Director of Wellness Outreach in which he promoted ASA’s “Student Success” activities which advance student financial literacy, retention, loan repayment and default prevention. For the prior twenty three years, however, he was employed as a financial aid administrator at a variety of institutions, among them: Clark University; Brandeis University and Lesley University. He has been a resident staff member of the Harvard Institute on College Admissions since 1989. He also serves as a resident faculty member at the Summer Financial Aid Institute sponsored by the New England Regional office of The College Board. He has held a number of elected and appointed positions with both the Massachusetts and Eastern Associations of Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA / EASFAA), and has acted on the advisory boards of numerous organizations advocating student aid. He is the recipient of the Charles “Jack” Sheehan Distinguished Service Award (MASFAA) and the Mapping-Your Future Excellence Award.
Russ Romandini: Russ started with HEAG in November 2010 with a specialty in enrollment management services. Russ has served as Director of Student Administrative Services at Becker College and Director of Student Financial Services at New England College where he was a member of overall enrollment management teams. Prior to his directorships, Russ was the manager of the Student Service Center at Emerson College for four years. In this position, Russ was responsible for managing the customer service operation for Student Administrative Services, a one-stop shop for billing, financial aid and registration items. Additionally, Russ was both the Assistant and Associate Director at Elms College in Chicopee, MA. Russ has expertise in Banner, Datatel, PowerFAIDS, EdConnect, and COD software. He has a bachelor and masters degree from Emerson College in Boston, MA.
Nancy Sabin: Nancy Sabin retired from Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, MA in 2011. Nancy held many positions at Northern Essex Community College including Director of Financial Aid, Registrar, Assistant Dean of Enrollment Services, and Veterans Certifying Official. In addition, she has worked since 1990 as an adjunct instructor at NECC providing instruction on all levels of software applications. She comes to HEAG with expertise in the Banner system and with comprehensive understanding of the Recruit, Admissions, Student and Financial Aid Modules. In addition, she brings many years of financial aid experience working in a busy financial aid office. Nancy has worked with Veterans both on and off campus since 1976 assisting them in getting the benefits they deserve. As an active member of the financial aid community, Nancy has been involved in New England Banner User Group (NEBUG) and Massachusetts Association of Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA). Nancy will be working on Banner and Financial Aid projects and senior level consulting assignments. She has a degree in Computer Information Science and a Master of Business Administration.
Kimberly Tibbetts: Kim worked at HEAG from 2007-2009 as the Vice President for Compliance, and now works part time as a senior consultant. Kim has over 15 years of higher education/financial aid experience. She was the System Director for Financial Aid at Community College System of New Hampshire and former Director of Financial Aid at Granite State College. Kim specializes in Title IV program compliance issues with expertise in non-standard term and non-term program issues. Also, Kim is very experienced using the various institutional financial aid management software with expertise in the Banner financial aid system. Kim has a degree from the University of New Hampshire, Manchester and a Masters degree from Southern Illinois University.
Chris Wilson: Chris Wilson comes to HEAG with 20 plus years of financial aid leadership and management experience. She worked for over 10 years as the Financial Planning Director at Cortiva Institute, formerly known as Muscular Therapy Institute (MTI). Prior to Cortiva, Chris was the Director of Financial Aid at Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA, as well as Assistant Director at Fitchburg State College. Chris has a degree in Animal Science from The University of New Hampshire.
